So what exactly is the Money in this for? Will there be a time when shops will be available, or is it where we would be wandering through a town, like say... Bevelle, and we go into a shop to buy something there? Just kinda curious.

Actually, I was thinking that our whole money issue would probably be for items/accessories/weapons/etc. But this does raise some questions.
Hmmmm...

We used to have some stores open, but they were owned primarily by characters who are no longer active. The only person still around who had a store at one time is Aerith, if I recall correctly. One would have to roleplay buying these things, but nothing happening in the store besides the item purchase was actually canon to the story. Obviously this was because the customer and the store owner can't be in two places at once. The stores were all in Narshe for some reason, I think.
If memory serves, the two most popular stores were Heartilly Arms and Wakka's Status Emporium. The former is, to date, the only place that sold the katanas needed for most of the Ninja and Samurai class skills. The latter store was popular almost exclusively for the Ribbons it sold at a hefty price, although I once did go ballistic and buy half of the items in Wakka's store. I think that cost summons their old infinite Gil privilege. Damn my greed! XD
Now then, I see three options open.
1. We can return to the old store system, in which case I request permission from Aerith to open a store. I would naturally run the store's contents by Aerith.
2. We can open one huge omega-store with everything in it, maybe forgoing the RP system of buying things altogether. This is the most convenient, but characters getting random items teleported to them is a little strange.
3. Create "shop intervals" where characters reach a town, such as Bevelle, and are given a chance to shop in the story while they're there. The items in the shop would be fitted to that town. This isn't very convenient, but makes the most sense as far as story goes. Plus we get to make up random shops so you don't get to choose what you get to buy.
Or we can phase out the shops, but I don't know what the Samurai and Ninja classes would do.

If we were to phase out those ninja weapons...I'd be inconvenienced greatly by that, after all, after completing Gunner, I become a ninja...so, I vote on option 3, if things get to that kinda point...

Back before the dawn of time...
...the original admin, Terra, created Lanif Ysatnaf as a giant island in the middle of the great nothing. At the center was the great Mount Ysatnaf guarded by Shiva. Lanif plains surrounded the great mountain, and at the very edge of the continent were the cities. Narshe was the base of commerce and trade.
And then the great usurper, Aerith, came. She broke the world from its Pangea form into the multiplicity of smaller continents seen today. Great cities moved away from the coastline, were absorbed into the nothing, or emerged from the bowles of the Planet. Narshe evolved from just a city of trade into a city populated by the poor and the hungry. Eventually, those great omnipresent shops closed their doors forever.
In other words, you go shopping in whatever city you happen to be in. THat's how I played it anyway. But, then again, I didn't claim my abilities until I could go to said city and shop for materia. That's why I "happened to find" a Master Summon materia in the wardrobe at the Opera House. Be nice, I had the abilities for almost a year until I got the thing.
Summoners, Samurai, Ninja, and some others do rely on special occurances to happen. Like for the Samurai, they need to own the actual weapon to use the ability... but it's a little unrealistic, to be honest. I'd revamp that, but I'm a little more worried about my grades than rebuilding a buggy job system that I've rebuilt twice already. The Summoners only get FFVII level summons unless they've met the summon/aeon/eidolon/GF/or esper. THen, should the summon/etc. desire, they can choose to come to the summoner's aid.

So, I'm gonna assume that, we can buy from whatever town we happen to be in, but...I'm going to assume we'd have a set group of items and/or weaponry up for purchase. However, we no longer need to have those weapons to use those abilities, we just need to learn them first.
And I assume, anyone can become a summoner, like say, for example...Tidus, or Auron (they're the only two non-FF7 or 8 characters that came to mind, that can't summon) would be able to use summons, if they 'spoke with the Fayth' as Auron is trying to do...correct?

Anyone can do any class. Yes, Tidus and Auron can summon if they so desire. They only have to follow the rules of their game... or the rules of the summon's game, depending on who's doing the summoning. We had an Auron once who was Junctioned to Bahamut because Bahamut played VIII style and it was convenient. But, then again, that Auron didn't give a shit about much that was going on.

Okay, a few ideas...maybe I'm just being annoying but I am the kind of person that likes it all laid out there so I don't accidentally break rules Prices for Items:This pretty much is what it is. What does everything cost? I assume we just keep a running total in our character profiles. If you don't already have ideas, I thought I'd suggest the following for the basic stuff: Weapon: $300 Weapon upgrade: $150 Potion: $50 Hi-Potion: $100 Mega-Potion: $150 Ether: $125 Turbo Ether: $175 Elixir: $150 Megalixir: $200 Phoenix Down: $250 Earning Money:How, exactly, do we refill depleted funds? Do we get into random monster fights where we get a few bucks? Is it like VIII and money just appears in our accounts? We rob each other? Sorry if I missed the explination for this. Just a few thoughts

Well, our Auron can no doubt, be one to follow the game set-out. He doesn't like making things weird. Unless he's around...so he'd actually be very weird in person. T.T Tash just hit me... xD I deserved it to an extent lol

Yeah, in your profile it Alex said that he thought it was $1000 per lvl, and Aerith said sure why not. So $1000 per lvl, unless it has changed since then.

Well, the thing is that "levels" as I spoke of them aren't something we do anymore. We used to have these "Level Up!" topics where everyone would be given their share of AP for the month (since the AP system used to be different). Now we just let everyone count their own AP, so there are no level up topics. Are each class level ups counted as levels now, or...?

The Leveling is taken care of automatically... Whenever you jump levels, it's stated your number below your screen name (lvl 1 n00b, lvl 2, lvl 3, Class Master, Guru, villain)
You also gain cash through the classic means: fighting monsters, stealing it from people, in treasure chests, finding it on the ground, etc. I am thinking about phasing out the money system, though. It's one of these buggy things that I've never thought to fix. One of the old admin's ideas that were never really developed. In something like this, I think that one would assume that the character has a certain amount of cash. So long as no one abuses it, I'd like to do away with the money system entirely. Just don't go balls out and buy up 99 X-Potions (or all of the katana) at once.
haha, I'm not very good with money, myself. I don't like it. It burns holes in my pockets.
