OK! Now that that's all moved around and pretty and stuff...
Vivi, I would say yes to that idea since all of the train tracks are magically connected somehow :plays Time Compression card:... however, unless there's a train that goes to Iifa - and there may very well be, since I have minimal knowledge on the game - one can't magically go there. Believe me, it did cross my mind at least once. It was between "go to Midgar" and "woops, go to Omega"...
Setzer, is there a train track that I am forgetting?

Nope. I'm pretty sure the only thing that gets you to that continent besides airship is Fossil Roo, which heads underground between continents.

The underground idea is cool, but it limits our team's interaction with everybody else. Hoofing it to train tracks and walking to Iifa would allow us to potentially interact with a lot of people...but take a helluva long time. I'm down for whatever everybody decides though. Just throwing the pros and cons out there

Good call, Aerith. It was getting a little OOC crazy there. Unfortunately, the lack of train tracks in FFIX means you can't get there that way. There might have been some tracks in Lindblum, but other than that I don't think there were any in FFIX.
So let's cover all the angles here.
Water
Sadly, there are no shallows connecting to the Iifa Tree according to the map. Pain in the ass, no? This leaves the broken Tiny Bronco and the vast majority of Chocobos in the dust. Unless you can find Gold (VII) ones or Flying Black (IV) ones. I don't even think Flying Black exist in FFI.
Costa del Sol has boats you could use to get there. It's quite a walk, though, and you might have to steal a boat or something since I doubt there's a ferry to the place.
Getting more complicated, you could take a ferry to Junon and then steal a submarine. But I'm hearing Junon is not...doing...good. I wouldn't know, though. Whatever happened there went down before I joined, and all records of it were lost.
Theoretically you could walk there by freezing the water a bit at a time. It would take a very, very long time to do that, and it would be cold and you would need to do a lot of fishing after supplies ran out. Because you never need to RP eating unless you're in a situation where you would actually be in danger of starving, apparently. It's an unwritten rule of adventures.
Into the realm of pointless would be taking a boat to Esthar just to take one of their boats. Nobody even knows about Esthar, so this would require them to get lost.
Air
The fastest approach would be the functional Tiny Bronco, but it would be maddeningly dangerous to ride that thing with as many people as you have.
Even more dangerously, you could theoretically take the rocket. I just...I don't think that would be good, though, you know? I...uhh...just no.
Like I said, it's complicated, but you could take a ferry to Junon and steal the Highwind instead of a submarine. That assumes it's still there, and it depends on what's up in Junon.
Getting a little silly, you could take a boat to near Midgar, walk the rest of the way, and then steal a helicopter or the Gelnika or something from them. Assuming the Gelnika isn't crashed already. Also assuming the Gelnika originated in Midgar and not Junon. Did anyone else totally forget about that thing?
In the same light as the Ice method, you could Float there. Unfortunately, none of you know Float. Cloud could if he wanted to, though. He has like two careers worth of unspent AP. Still, taking a path for one spell is quite a leap.
Again into the realm of pointless is Esthar and the Ragnarok, which would again require them to get lost and have any idea how to fly it.
The Omega ruins reaches the realm of stupid, but for the sake of completion there is an airship there.
Land
The Fossil Roo leads there. I cannot for the life of me remember where or what that is, or even where the other end of the tunnel is.
It might be technically possible to get there via Figaro, depending on what the terrain is like near the Iifa Tree.

What the hell is this "Fossil Roo" I keep hearing about?

You get there from the Qu's Marsh excavation site. It's where you do that digging thing. And you ride around on the gargants that you lure with flowers. It's basically a tunnel between continents. It leads from the Mist Continent (the one you start on) to the outer continent (the one that Iifa is on.) :3 I'm informative.

So the question is: Where is the other end of the Fossil Roo in FFI? After all, there's no Qu's Marsh or Mist Continent.

What about this? Could there be a marsh there? Or even just the excavation site in the middle of nothing? I mean, I would imagine that if Time Compression rearranged the surface of the worlds, the same would go for underground. It'd still be a fair bit of walking, but it would work. If not, tell me to shut up about Fossil Roo and I will. XD

I just had a thought...as completely random as it may be, what about the Via Infinito sewer system thing from FFX's Bevelle? I mean, the Via Infinito seemed as though it could go on forever, with the sheer size of it.
If there's nothing to this, don't mind me. I was just throwing something out that came to mind.
Other than that, Fossil Roo seems the only valid option. Yet, of our group, only Vivi knows about Fossil Roo, and one wrong move, and you could end up miles off course. Not to mention, in character, I find it doubtful that the Fossil Roo would even be thought of by Vivi. After all, the group had enough trouble with the Fossil Roo attempting to get there...if I'm not mistaken, at first you found yourselves attacked by some snake-like boss monster, that had the distinct ability to poison, and confuse your characters. -.-
But, yeah. Aside from that, the Fossil Roo seems the only viable solution.

We're FFI, you guys. We take rules and twist them to suit our purposes.
"Via Infinito" would be "Infinite Way" or "by infinity" or something similar. My Latin would be based almost entirely on English and dictionary.com lol
Via Infinito would more than likely connect Bevelle magically to Balamb, Midgar, Omega, and other areas connected by train (haha... connected *via* train). However, because of the same reasons, I doubt it would make it to Iifa.
This Fossil Roo thing sounds like it would work nicely for our purposes.
That area you have circled is supposed to be a forest, but it's from the VI WoB, so it's your call. But why go all the way out there? Narshe is a mining town, yes? There's a lot of digging going on, yes?
Hmmm... interesting...There's now like a network of underground roads, either rail or gargant, that are beneath FFI. I doubt they intersect, but still.
Fossil Roo it is, then.

Naaaarshe, yeeesss. Sweeeet. :3 I miss Narshe. I don't miss moogles who won't give Seph his masamune. And oldBahamut. But I miss Narshe.
Also: Yay totally random WoB forest. It would be funny if it was the one with the dinosaurs that give you 1,337 gold. I lol'd.
Also also: The majority of our players are FFVII. :C

Also also: The majority of our players are FFVII. :C Also, also, also: Here I am, one of the many FFVII peeps, and I can randomly recall and state aspects to all the games, obviously bar FFVI (as I never played it)! Does that seem slightly awkward to anyone else? That I seem to know so much about the other games, yet so little (only got to the end of the second disc) about the very game my character's from!

I didn't read this whole thread,, but why don't we cut out a step and make the underground transport be right in Nibel Mountains? Just extend a little further and see what Midgar was trying to do.... but I guess that wouldn't work since ShinRa isn't around to order such things... hmm....
I have to agree that Fossil Roo sounds like a very good idea, but now the question is how to get Vivi to lead you there. Maybe something happens in the group and they need somewhere to hide/heal and so they head toward the Qu (is it connected to somewhere with a hut?). I don't remember IX that well, so I should be playing through it again... though that will have to wait until Aerith gets home or something.

I think we were completely skipping the marsh stuff... and why rush? I mean, what hurry are they in? Yes, the characters are in a hurry, but are we? Oh! There's that one room with all of the tunnels and stuff where you fight Materia Keeper I'm looking for a better pic.
