Vivi almost jumped as he realized the hand that was being offered to him. He had become distracted by the two in front of hiam and had almost forgoten the remaining two in the room, Setzer and the small care-free creature that had been causing the noise that had drawn him out into his present company. Ever so cautiously he reached up and took the hand in his own.
"Uh... yeah, I think so..." he said after the hand shake. Almost as a reaction to the answer itself, he began to check himself over. After he had made sure that everything was straight, he nodded assuringly at Setzer.
"Who are we fighting again?" The question still remained, although now he wasn't quite as sure that he was here to be a weapon this time. Actually he wasn't quite sure why he was even here at all, or even where here was...
He wasn't quite sure yet if he could trust this man in front of him.

"The reactor in Mount Nibel? Tifa, that was eight years ago. Did you forget about the fight against Sephiroth so soon?"
Cloud's voice held a tone of more than mild surprise. had something happened to give Tifa amnesia? She was asking questions that he had already answered some time ago, after all.
"And what do you mean where have I been? I was staying at 7th heaven with you and Marlene until everything got crazy, remember?"
Cloud noticed the look in her eyes, although he couldn't quite place what it was. It was so familiar though...
"Are you ok, Tifa?"

Setzer frowned. "I only wish I knew." He turned his gaze to the skies ahead, scanning the horizon for Odin and his steed. "He kidnapped a dear friend... and we are going to get her back." The captain had be right, as he remembered. He had sensed something about Seymour-- that creature-- and he had been right. The man was mad... just like Kefka, and if he were anything like the clown? Well... damn.

“Who kidnapped who,” Vivi asked, “and why am I here? What do you want me to do?” Vivi became concerned all over again. He just couldn’t shake the feeling that something wasn’t right. There was no mist here. Why was there no mist? And where were his friends? Dagger, Eiko, Freya, Stiener, and Ammarant. Were they okay? Vivi began to feel a bit dizzy. He leened on his mace for support. “I think I need to lie down for a sec.” He mumbled, “The airship is making me sick.” That was a lie. He new that he was fine with Airship travel. Vivi just couldn’t stand the thought of losing all of his friends. HE started off back towards the couch that he had woken up on. As he walked slowly, using his mace for a crutch to keep his balance, he saw Tifa and Cloud.
At least some one here has a friend, thought Vivi.

Shaking her head, Tifa tried to grasp what Cloud was talking about. It was like he was from a different time. Her hand dropped from approaching his cheek to rest limply at her side. She suddenly felt drained.
"Eight...years ago, Cloud? No, it was only three...remember? You defeated Sephiroth and he fell into the lifestream, where he died. You helped save me. Master took me to Midgar to be healed because my injuries were so bad. I've been living there with Barret and Marlene, we have started a group called AVALANCHE to stop Shinra from killing the planet." Stepping closer to Cloud, she looked into those startling blue-green eyes. It really was him, just older than she thought he should be.
"Cloud, if you think it was eight years ago that Nibelheim burned down, does that mean you think you're 24? We're 19, Cloud. You were born August 19th, and I am nine months younger than you." Bringing her hands around behind her back, her body rocked gently back and forth. She was so close to Cloud she could feel his breath against her skin. She wanted to be close to him. He was safety. He had come for her, saved her from Sephiroth, and he was her only chance to understand what was happening here and now.
"Why do we remember things differently?" She asked softly, for his ears alone. Her voice trembled despite her efforts to keep it calm. "Cloud, where are we? What is happening?"

"This has been happening all over the place," Setzer breathed, addressing anyone who would listen. "You simply awoke here, did you not? It has been the same for all of us, I believe." He remembered his confusion as he left Narshe. "I woke in a familiar place... the city was exactly as I remembered it, but I cannot say the same of the world beyond that city." The captain furrowed his brows against the wind as if to defy it. "Even the wind here is unfamiliar."
Setzer turned dusty violet eyes back to the newer members of his crew. "This isn't the first time this has happened to me... but I fear that the cause is different now." He looked at Cloud now, poker face slipping just enough to show concern for his situation. "You'll both simply... have to trust us."

Vivi paused at the door, considering what he was hearing. The dizziness forced him to grab the door frame to keep himself steady as he listened. He glanced back at Setzer and noted the concerned look on his face. For some reason Vivi knew that he was telling the truth. He trusted him.
Vivi continued through the door and laid back down. As he did the furry creature came through the door and trotted over to the couch. Vivi didn’t even notice that the dog was there until it licked his hand. Frightened, Vivi just stared as the dog laid his head on Vivi and just stared at him. Vivi knew that this creature was here the same way as everyone else. Just no one knew why. He stroked his hand over te dogs head. Now it didn’t even matter to him that he didn’t know what this thing was. He still wasn’t even sure what he was…

"Setzer is right. I found myself in a frozen wasteland when I first arrived. But that doesn't explain anything. I thought I had gone crazy when I saw people who were supposed to be dead still living."
He said, a slight shudder creeping into his voice. He still quite hadn't gotten over seeing Sephiroth and Zack, despite having been away from them for quite some time. Actually, where they still even alive? Aerith was a different story, He KNEW she was alive, and unless Seymour had made a VERY big mistake, he and the others would rescue her in time.
"And it does not explain why Tifa is acting as if it were six years ago, instead of the Tifa I know now."

"So...everybody just...woke up here?" Tifa asked, her voice somewhere between startled and baffled. Scrunching her forehead in thought, she relayed the last bits and pieces she could remember before she fell asleep.
"I came back to Seventh Heaven after getting into a fight with a Turk. He was redhead, really arrogant and stuck on himself. And he thought he was funny. Anyway, he was supposedly teaching me a lesson about having a fake ID for the trains. I managed to disabuse him of the idea that I was easy meat. When I got back to Seventh Heaven, it was late, and Barret had already put Marlene to bed. I was exhausted, so Barret offered to clean up the bar for me. So I went to bed. Then I woke up here."
She sighed. What had happened to her friends? Were they alright?
"Is there a way we can find out what happened? Or if any of our friends are in this place?" She directed the last part of her questioning at Setzer. "And who is it you're fighting?"

The captain shook his head sadly. The girl was confused, just as he and all the others had been when they awoke, he was sure. "At least be content for now that you have that one by your side." He motioned to Cloud with a small frown. "You know eachother... and though one of you may not know or remember as much as the other... at least be comforted in his presence." Setzer had yet been alone in this world-- yes, he has made new friends, but there had been no sign of the others.
"You're lucky to have found each other. As for the man we're fighting... again, I wish I knew. He ran off with our friend after he destroyed the opera house. All I know is that he seems to be a powerful mage. A mad one, at that..."

"I haven't seen Barret since I arrived. Aerith was kidnapped by the guy we are chasing...As for the others, I really don't know. I know Red XIII was here before, but we lost him in the confusion. I don't think he survived the Opera House..."
Cloud didn't want to admit to it, but that HAD been the last point where he had seen Red. Had they just left him behind, unnoticed? Or was his friend really gone from this world. Cloud's attention was turned from these thoughts by Setzer's words.
"I know. I agree that we must be thankful for small favors...As well as a few larger ones. And as far as Seymour goes, don't you love it when the bad guys are powerful AND insane."

Tifa blinked at Cloud. She hadn't seen him since she was 16, and had just met Barret less than a year ago herself. How did he...?
"Cloud, how do you know Barret?" Her head tilted to the side, large brown eyes wide. "He said he'd found somebody from SOLDIER to help our cause...was that you he was talking about Cloud?" Suddenly another question popped into her head, one she asked somewhat hesitantly. "Who's Aerith?" She asked, a little more heatedly than she meant, so she quickly covered by inquiring over this Red XIII fellow also.
Inside, she fought the turmoil, tried to grasp at what she could while she waited for Cloud's answers. Nothing was like it was supposed to be. Who was this insane person, Seymour, they were fighting? Had he brought them all here? Why? Where were the rest of her friends? Why did she and Cloud remember things so differently? And who was Aerith?

Vivi rolled over thinking to himself. He still felt dizzy, but it was not as bad as before.
“It must have just been the shock…” he muttered to himself. Once again the wave of loneliness hit him like a ton of bricks. The only difference now was that he knew that there was nothing he could do to change it.
“Or is there?” Vivi said a little louder. He sat up and looked back into the other room. It had seemed like days since he was in there with the others, but in reality it had been only a moment ago that he had left.
Tired of being alone, Vivi stood up and ventured back to the others.

"I met Barret six years ago. In fact, I probably am the soldier you remember him talking about. As for the others..."
Cloud thought for a moment how to answer this question.
"We meet them on the way after the fight against ShinRa gets a bit...'out of control'. In all certainty, you'll meet Aerith very soon."

Vivi strolled casually back into the room with the others. He glanced around cautiously again to make sure nothing had changed. Satisfied with the room he slowly walked up to the others. Standing a little off center from Cloud and Tifa.
"*ahem*... so uh... where are you guys from?"
He hoped that he wasn't interrupting anyone, but the loneliness drove him now. He glanced up at Tifa and saw the look of absolute bewilderment on her face, and then glanced over to Cloud, who didn't look much different. Then he looked over at Setzer, but he couldn't really get a read from the man's face.
"I was raised by my Grandpa just outside of Treno." Vivi said, still hoping that the conversation would catch.
