Job: Dragoon
Secondary Job: Knight
Appearance: Just looking at her, with her slight build and pale complexion, Fujin appears to be a frail young woman. However, the deep, hot fire burning in her one visible red eye tells of a great personal strength. For a reason unknown to most, a black patch obscures her left eye, which also serves to harden her image. Her attire used to be very uniform-like - minimalist but conservative. Since arriving in the "new world" however, she has changed her style significantly. Fujin has recently been seen wearing a Turk-style black and white suit. She still wears her metal shoulder guard -the only protective article on her person- but has since changed the symbol painted on it to one meaning "snow," though it is still indecipherable to most people. Fujin's light, feathery hair is cut short and is as devoid of color as her skin.
Good or Evil: Good, I guess. Though "repentant" might be more suitable a word.
Realm: Eighth
Race and Origin: Human, Balamb Garden
Age: 17
Abilities: Zan*, Sai*, Metsu*, Armor Break, Weapon Break, Shield Break, Magic Break, Power Break, Mind Break, Cover, Deathblow, Weapon Guard, Minus Strike, Provoke, Double Cut, Reis' Wind, Assault, White Draw, Cherry Blossom
*Only when using Pinwheel
Equipment: Shoulder spaulder, Spiral Shuriken (Bouryoku), Ninja-to (Tsuyagoto)
History: [Note: Some of you, through myself or someone else, have been led to believe that I am the world's (or even universe's) leading authority on Fujin. While this is not untrue, not everything in this history is to be taken as fact. Some of it is purely made up, and much of it is simply my best guess, with bits of truth thrown in for flavor. Finally, I've intentionally left the issue of Fujin's eyepatch untouched for the fact that there are some things we just don't need to know.]
Fujin and her half-brother Raijin were born and raised in the port city of Balamb, and unlike most of Garden's students, their parents were alive until the day that time compression occurred. Throughout their early childhood, Raijin was forced into the role of being his sister's protector as other children targeted Fujin for her unusual appearance. Despite her weakness (or perhaps because of it), Fujin never allowed herself to be intimidated, and as soon as she was of age, begged her parents to allow her to enroll in Balamb Garden. The idea at the time was that if she could go to Garden she could learn to become stronger and wouldn't need Raijin to protect her. However, Raijin knew this change would not occur over night and, foregoing his own desires, convinced their parents that Fujin would be alright if he enrolled as well.
The first few weeks went by with little trouble, as Raijin rarely left his sister's side - even then he was quite strong, and nobody dared do so much as look at Fujin cross-eyed. However, as time went on he was less able to keep an eye on her, which opened up more opportunities for students to harass the pale girl. During one particularly nasty incident several older girls had pursued and cornered Fujin and began harassing her. Before things could escalate though, a Fire spell burst from the ground at their feet, sending the girls scattering a bit, but not doing any serious harm.
The girls looked up to see a boy with short blond hair brandishing a gunblade trainer. They all knew instantly that the one who had stopped them was Seifer Almasy, one of Garden's most gifted and most notorious students. Once that realization sunk in, it took little encouragement for the group to disappear. Meanwhile, Fujin stood there looking somewhat crestfallen. Seifer knew who she was, as she and her brother were two of the only students with as widespread a reputation as his own. He tried to cheer her up by telling her to think of him as her Knight, after which her red eyes narrowed and she growled that she didn't need any such thing.
"Don't wanna be the damsel in distress? Then you're gonna have to toughen up and stop looking so afraid all the time. Just follow my lead and you'll be alright."
And so she did exactly that. The three of them -Fujin, her brother Raijin, and Seifer- became an air-tight trio practically over night. Early in their friendship, Fujin made a promise to herself that someday soon, she would never need the others to come to her rescue again. On a near-daily basis she would make one of the boys spar with her in addition to their regular classes. However, her single-minded focus on training herself only made her the target of further harassment. It wasn't until Seifer bestowed another revelation upon Fujin that she finally found a solution. He mentioned to her that people would never respect her strength unless they were given a reason to fear it.
From that point on, Fujin slowly transformed from a shy and quiet "damsel" into the fierce, merciless warrior the rival of any student two classes ahead of her. All the while, she and her brother stood by Seifer. In Fujin's case, it was his wild ambition and careless passion that kept her near. His romanticism was arguably his most attractive trait, and she was not unaffected. Not that it inspired any romantic intentions in her - more than anything, it was admiration. He also reminded her that pursuing strength for its own purpose was, at best, unfulfilling. Only later would she learn that placing too much value on achieving a dream's fulfillment comes with its own consequences...
