Quick question. Do you guys send out a messege for leveling up, or let us know how much AP we have? Sorry if this has been asked a million times. Thanks for the help.

Roughly every month (though sometimes longer), Squall will post in the Lev-...
...What the hell? Oh, I guess we don't have a Level Up section of the board yet. Well, we'll have one eventually I guess. Once we get one, Squall (or possibly Aerith) will calculate everyone's AP and tell them how much they have. That's how we used to do it, anyways. I don't know how we do it now. Aerith, should we just trust everyone to moniter their own AP now?

I think we can do that with the admins backing up the claims.
Vivi, you've got 1 AP right now. For every 10 posts, you get 1 AP. It's that easy

10 IC posts? Or do OOC posts count too?

All posts count, I believe. As long as you're active is what's important. Some people, myself included, are active members whose characters often can't do anything for weeks at a time. I would gain only a handful of AP a year at best if we only count IC posts.
Of course, this is just what I'm assuming. Aerith, did I get it right or am I a doofus?

Well, as it would take gobs of manpower to log only IC posts, we're going to stick with all posts. Activity is #1. When people are abusing the system by never RPing, well, they'll be dealt with then.

Job change question: What I've heard makes it sound as if one has to complete a given job path before changing to another - is this the case?

That it is. You must complete the three jobs in a path before changing to a new one unless you are a summon or a villain. Summons and villains can choose abilities from any job as long as it's their level. Every 12 AP you gain a level and change to the next job, though you can still buy abilites from the old job if it had so many abilities that you couldn't get them all.
Although since you haven't actually gained any AP yet, you should be able to change your job right now if you want to. So if you want a new job, feel free to ask to have it changed before you start buying abilities.

No, each level is 12 AP. For everything. The end.
Oh, what is your job class? I need to post that.

Really? Ah, well, I guess I didn't really need to learn that earlier since I don't really have a single job. My mistake.
Mine? I...uhh...Aeon is the last class in the summon line, so that I suppose. I mean, summons can just pick and choose abilities as long as they're not above the summon's level, right? So...am I not answering right, or...? ^_^;

So, can someone explain how I buy the abilities in the job class? It's to do with the AP, that much I've gathered from reading over, but I can't get into the links from the computer I'm using at the moment. So yeah, I'm kinda lost.

Can't get into the links? Weird. Well, here are the abilities for the thief.
-
Gil Taking - steal cold hard cash Steal Heart - charm enemy... of opposite gender, you yaoi fiends | Add: Charm Steal Helmet - steal equipped helmet Steal Armor - steal ... armor Steal Shield - steal shield (can ya believe it?) Steal Weapon - and leave enemies empty handed Steal Accessory - or Relics Steal Ability - Use random ability from foe Secret Hunt - beat a monster and take it to a shop for $$$ Caution - take defensive position when critical Catch - catch thrown object and keep it for all eternity Maintenence - cannot be stolen from or have weapon broken (Final)
-
You have 20 posts, so you have 2 AP. That means you can pick any of those two abilities. Well, almost any. You can't learn Maintenence until you get 12 AP, at which point you automatically learn all of the abilities for that level (even if there are more than 12).
