Are we allowed to have more than one character here? I've been playing with the idea of another for the last day or two. Alex and Tifa can probably guess...

I'm sad to report that we generally don't allow two characters for non-admin members. This is partially because we often lose members, so losing one member would mean losing several characters if we allowed for alts. It's also because we don't want one person making up a fifth of the characters like our old Bahamut/Edea/Tiamat/Red XIII/Brand did. However, if you can prove to the admins that you have staying power and you're not going to bail on us then they might allow you to take on a second character eventually. I can't say for sure that they will, but if it's Fujin as I suspect it is then let me just say:
Edgar's player is someone who has written an essay on Fujin. Like, an honest to god essay. One could not possibly find any English speaking person who knows more about Fujin's character unless they had direct connections to Square's staff members. You simply will not find someone better suited to her character.
Now, you might be able to ditch Edgar and reapply as Fujin with somewhat more ease, as did our Selphie give up her character in exchange for Elena in times long past. But that would make our Setzer sad, as I don't think the poor guy has had other FFVI characters to play with since one of our older Edgars. XD
You know, I'm curious: Would I qualify for a second character? I'm not up for applying as one just yet, but I might be one day.

Heh, even says so in the rules and regs topic. First item on the damned list if I'd bothered to remember. Oh well, we'll see what happens.

Alex, I can say with some degree of certainty that we would probably let you have a second character. Note that that sentence is full of uncertainty, but of course, they don't really let me decide anything, because I'm flighty. (they = Bre and Meg.)

I've considered the idea myself...obviously, it would be after I could prove that I'm going to be an active member, like I think that was some of the reason why I was allowed my second RP character on Balamb Garden, as Kuja and Odin would probably know fairly well. If I were to be allowed (in time, after proving myself) I'd be one to consider an appropriate character, that could help the storyline...but it's all a matter of time, and my willingness. ^_^

A friend of mine (who's a really good RPer) wants to join, but he's got no idea as to what characters are available, and doesn't want to try for a character if they're taken...And I guess he'd try to get a character he could RP as, as well. He's not willing to RP as someone he can't do properly... lol

You could just have him check the member list. It shows who is a member and then you can deduce what characters are left.

Characters to abuse... I mean, get. Yuna, Lucretia, Hojo, Sabin. There's a checklist now >D

Who's Sabin? FFVI? He's only familiar with VII and onwards, like myself. He wouldn't be good at Hojo, but he'd probably go for someone if only he were to check through the member list and characters. lol

Try to get yourself a little aquainted with FFVI. Read a few wikipedia articles about it or something. If you're gonna be in Figaro, it'll help to know the basics. Just advice.

On the other hand, genuinely not knowing anything about certain places could be an unexpected asset in this kind of RP. After all, it's much easier to play at not knowing where you are when you don't know where you are.

yet at the same time if you said that your character went into a place in the castle that doesn't exist then that could be kind of a problem.
