YOU CANNOT RUN AT CARNIVAL, BECAUSE EVEN RUNNING IS A KIND OF DANCE! I AM ON FIRE, AND I DANCE!
Anyways, I think it's safe to say we all want to be the big hero who takes down Xenos, but at this point pretty much anybody is capable of it. Not that Xenos is a weaker character, but he's not exactly top tier either at the moment. As far as combat goes, it seems like he's basically Squall with a katana instead of a gunblade. Well, actually, he's probably better than Squall at fighting. Squall is a mercenary trained to do a lot of things, and one of the major things happens to be fighting. By Ultimecia's time, SeeD would probably more like soldiers who do little else but fight. Specifically fight Ultimecia.
The problem is, like Xenos said, we don't know what kind of firepower he'll have by the time the heroes or villains have a shot at him. He might be using Alexander as a base of operations by that point for all we know. How many of you have the balls to march toward a Holy ICBM firing, laser spitting, beam spewing castle that can shrug off a Mega Flare like it didn't happen? While Tiamat is flying around him frying those who get too close? With Kefka and Adel waiting inside, and the entire Estharian Army charging at you?
So it really depends on what Xenos has by the time we reach him.
Also, if that happens you might want to, like, give up or something.

Okay, you have a point with Xenos and not know precisely what he'll be armed with, but we can safely say that it at least won't be a giant meteor hurling towards the planet or even a giant monster which spawns more monsters and can only be killed by sacrificing two people's lives. At least, I hope not... But I mean if you're looking for crazy, we have plenty of it. I for one know that Tseng wouldn't hesitate to assault a Holy ICBM firing, laser spitting, beam spewing castle that can shrug off a Mega Flare like it didn't happen. I mean he was crazy enough to face down Sephiroth... alone. Besides, how much damage can an ICBM do anyways? He's a Turk. Seriously though, we would definitely have a problem should Xenos rally and army and earn the help of the summons. It would be suicide to attack Xenos at that point especially if he manages to get anymore of the villains on his side. A serious concentrated effort would be required despite the fact that no one would be willing to work together for any period of time and the likelihood of someone turning traitor is very high. Xenos has two things on his side that even going insane can't negate: He's very intelligent, and he knows all the right buttons to press. Maybe if we could somehow make an elite fighting team of some black mages... like a factory of them...

TSENG YOU ARE A GENIUS! XP I think it's been done, man... but if you need pointers, I think Kuja can help Shinra build one of them there thingamajigs.

Tseng took on Sephiroth and, as I see it, lost. He was also presumed dead, by me at any rate, until Advent Children was released.
I'm down with the Mog idea.
Kuja could help with an army of Black Mages but he's busy looking in the mirror. Also if he goes Trance and casts Ultima he'll just blow up the planet in an elaborate emo moment.

Kuja needs to get some Pamprin. His PMS is just going overboard.
I think there's an optional meeting with the Turks after Tseng is stabbed where they vaguely mention that Tseng didn't die.... I can't remember the specifics, but I DO recall Bre talking about it.

Elena had a mistranslation in the game. It was right before she went tumbling down the mountain after failing to punch Cloud. In the English version, she says: "...doin' my boss in." In the Japanese, I was told it was: "...messin' up my boss." The later of which implied that he was still alive. I myself chose to use the American version because I wasn't sure how many people actually knew about the translation error. Oh and in either case, you have to be crazy to face Sephiroth one on one Hopefully, a Xenos vs. Tseng fight wouldn't end so um... poorly.

It would. XD Something to do with long-haired psycho villains with katana just kind of leads me to believe that Tseng would probably get the good "one-two".
Mm... Aerith is a pretty big nerd. She used to know just about everything there was to know, but now we're trying to play through it again and our disk won't let us get past the flashback! D: D: D:

I don't think Vivi would take to kindly to an army of black mages... that might piss him off a bit... what is that? Quadra cast Ultimania!?

Kuja needs to get some Pamprin. His PMS is just going overboard. So what you're telling me is that everyone in FFI is actually female and Trance is just PMS? I guess that explains Steiner's eyelashes. >.>

If I recall correctly, Kuja can't Trance by himself because he has no emotions strong enough, or something like that. He was using Brahne's soul, right?
But in case he does go Trance at some point in the story, somehow, for the purposes of getting Kuja at least vaguely within the same power limits as the other characters, let's say he merely razed Terra's surface to the ground instead of out and out blowing up the planet. We never see the planet itself explode, and the characters just say Terra was destroyed, which could mean either the planet itself blew up or that the Terran civilization was destroyed. Both theories have been put forth and are possible, but this way Trance Kuja can't explode the planet as a cheap last-ditch attack against someone who might be, say, hiding or in a barrier he somehow can't crack or something.
Not that I'm trying to nerf you, Kuja, but...I am, because damn. This way Trance Kuja'll only be at the same levels of godliness as Magic God Kefka.

I'm cool with that.
Kuja was awesome for reasons that had nothing to do with his power.
I still think Quina is the scariest character, and would terrify Xenos into submission. Think about it, s/he attacks people with a giant fork and eats them. S/he is like Final Fantasy's version of a serial killer. And s/he eats frogs, so s/he is clearly part French.

Jean Reno is the only acceptable French serial killer.
Wait... that would be a good movie.

Everyone in FFVIII can eat people, but they need GFs to do it and don't use forks.
