I'm a tower of knowledge.

And I'm a knowledge syphon. XD I know everything there is to know about FFVIII, almost everything (I think) about FFX practically nothing about FFVII (yes, I have played the games XD), a fair bit about FFIX...and since they're the only ones to really apply here (besides FFVI, to which I'm clueless) It won't help me much. XD since most of those Guru's are taken. Damn...foiled again.

The only Guru position left is FFIX. Setzer is the FFVI Guru, Aerith is the FFVII Guru (it's just not her title because she's also an Administrator), I'm the FFVIII Guru, and Tidus is the FFX Guru (like Aerith, it's not his title).
In addition to knowing everything about the game--which is something hard enough to prove on the net, where anyone can claim they know everything and then just look up the answers--a Guru has to be trustworthy enough to grant limited admin abilities to. It would also have to be pretty clear they they aren't quiting for quite some time if ever.
Also: Unless you own a copy of the FFVIII Ultimania and you know Japanese, I don't think you know everything there is to know about FFVIII. Not to belittle your knowledge or anything. I don't think anyone here can make that claim. XD

I don't own the Ultimania, though I've read everything relevant to FFVIII (That's in English) and I've even read the very in-depth explanation my mate Brody has on our FFVIII private forums homepage. I admit there a probably a few things I don't know, but most of which I do know.
Alex, how did you come to be the FFVIII guru?

He came to be the FFVIII Guru because he knew of the site before you...that, and he's probably got more knowledge on the general story than you. lol Oh, and the fact that he's probably a more experienced RPer than the both of us combined...that's probably to a lesser extent though.

Actually, most people here probably have more RPing experience than I do. I've only ever been in this one and Balamb Garden, I'm just a good writer so it makes me seem experienced.
Well, I don't know if I'm so much a good writer as I am a long writer. I also don't know if it makes me seem experienced so much as it makes me seem snobby. Whatever. XD
I came to be the FFVIII Guru for three reasons, as far as I know.
The first is that I was the first one here to know gobs and gobs about FFVIII, like the Unjust Persecution theory or the Static/Dynamic Time theories. Basically I was the only one to hang out at the GameFAQs message board have read through the Time/Ultimecia FAQ. I actually got a little credit in that FAQ for a theory I had on Adel during one of the many random Ultimecia debates over there. That place used to be a freakishly large nexus of wisdom for FFVIII, which I'm sure those of you who hang out there know. There was one guy, Squall_of_SeeD, who has a FFVIII Ultimania and had chunks of it translated. Although if you've read it then you know that. If you haven't then look it up and give it a read.
The second, I believe, is that summon characters used to be allowed in the Administrator's Board, and I was very active on it back then. When they changed it so that summons couldn't access it, I imagine they still wanted me to have access. That might just be self-indulgent thinking, though.
The last is that I'm so loved. :3 *group hug*
Edit: Actually, Squall seems to know a lot about the game, just not as much about Ultimecia and the timelines and stuff. Since that stuff has a big impact on the story and Squall was already an Admin anyways, I suppose they made me the FFVIII Guru over him.
Edit Edit: Kuja, I forgot you posted. I shall edit this to include a response. That's actually really cool. If only you could read it. ^_^;

Let's just say that there really are no guru positions left (other than that one), but none of you should worry about becoming one. Just like admin status, there are only a limited number of openings. I've been with FFI for several years now (almost as long as Aerith and Xenos) so it took a hell of alot to get here.
I think Alex and Squall sort of share a guru position, but that would and will be the only exception. Them's the breaks. Gaining that status had more to do with trust than knowledge of a specific game. Yeah, you want to know the game inside and out, but if we don't know you well enough (as well as we can know you online), then you can't really be trusted.
So, really, there should be no speculation. We have the FFIX position open, but it'll probably be a while before it gets filled. Besides that, once you become a level 3 or more, you're pretty much a top-class citizen with us. And it's not like you can't just talk to one of us if you have suggestions or whatever.
Also: sorry if I'm sounding like a hard-ass here, I just don't want anyone getting their hopes up too much, you know. It's all love.

Cheap shottedness! As Alexander I could squish everybody. It's only in real life that I'm...a little underweight.

Okay, okay, I'll grant you that she could probably throw FFVII's Alexander, but not the one from FFIX. Wait, I don't know if you'll get that. Did you play FFIX? He's a lot bigger in that game.

No I never played IX....well at least, not all the way through. I played 15-18 hours of it, and only plays about 8-10 hours of X. I know. I'm a bad bad FF fan.
